CBD For Dogs
The veterinarian team at Naturecan are committed to ensuring your pet can benefit from CBD while guaranteeing their safety.
We have formulated a proprietary blend of CBD + CBDA isolate to work in synergy with your dog's endocannabinoid system.
CBD works indirectly with the body's CB1 and CB2 receptors which support a range of vital functions, such as sleep, mood, and pain, while CBDA works to inhibit the COX2 enzyme, which is responsible for inflammatory response.
Studies suggest that, by acting as a COX2 inhibitor, CBDA may have the potential to reduce feelings of pain and irritation.
We use chromatography to refine our broad-spectrum CBD into an isolate, removing all flavonoids and terpenes which can be dangerous for some pets. This chromatography process also allows us to ensure all THC is removed to create a 100% pure CBD product.

What Is CBD Used For?
Our bespoke veterinarian pet products utilise the healing powers of cannabidiol (CBD) oil, derived from the Cannabis sativa plant. Commonly known as hemp, this plant has been used for thousands of years to optimise health and combat pain.
Early studies have shown CBD may have the potential to help combat a number of conditions, including:
Digestion
Anxiety
Joint Issues
Chronic Pain
Allergies & Skin Conditions
Harnessing the power of CBD to help dogs live their best lives is still a new concept, meaning that large-scale research is somewhat inadequate.
How Does CBD Work?
However, preliminary studies look promising, and UK vets may now prescribe CBD for dogs. In fact, many pet owners see life-changing results after giving their pets CBD.
How does CBD work for dogs?
It seems that because all animals have an endocannabinoid system (ECS), any species can utilise and benefit from CBD products³.
The endocannabinoid system consists of three key components: endocannabinoids, cannabinoid (CB) receptors, and enzymes. Endocannabinoids send signals to cannabinoid receptors throughout the body to release chemicals that help people and pets deal with external events, like injuries and stress.
CB receptors are responsible for releasing chemicals that keep our bodies in homeostasis or balance. The two we currently understand are CB1, found chiefly in the brain and central nervous system, and CB2, primarily located in the liver and immune system.³
Enzymes break down endocannabinoids once they have carried out their function.
CBD is a phyto-cannabinoid that supports our natural endocannabinoid function and helps the ECS to maintain a balanced internal state.
How to give CBD to your dog
There are a number of ways to give your pet CBD.
You can choose from our range of easy-to-use dog treats which include prescriptive formulations for key conditions like joint and mobility issues, skin conditions or anxious behaviour.
Our Dog Treats for Hip & Joint Support combine natural ingredients such as chondroitin, glucosamine and Boswellia to support healthy joints.
Our CBD Dog Treats for Calm combine soothing passionflower extract, camomile and valerian root to offer a simple way to promote calm behaviour, support relaxation and wellbeing, and encourage natural sleep.
Low CBD strength treats may be a great way to keep your dog at a consistent level, or if they are experiencing reduced appetite, you can drop our Pet CBD oils directly into the mouth.
For larger dogs that need a higher dose of CBD our treats can be given alongside our CBD oil which can be added to food or given orally before food.
Or if they are combatting chronic conditions that require rapid onset, the drops are placed under the tongue, where they will be rapidly absorbed through the pink mucosa.
This is known as the sublingual route (literally, ‘under the tongue’), and can be safely done using your complimentary dosing syringe.
Sublingual absorption is efficient in terms of bioavailability.
The percentage of each dose absorbed is generally higher than that achieved by means of oral ingestion, and the rate of absorption is also higher, with CBD entering the bloodstream within 15 minutes.
