    How To Dose CBD?

CBD oil can be given orally before food or mixed with food.

For quick results take the drops under the tongue (sublingually) as the CBD will be absorbed much faster into the bloodstream. The easiest way to administer sublingually is to face the same way as your dog and use one hand to steady the head and simultaneously lift the lip with a thumb.

Syringes are included with all our CBD Oils to use for sublingual dosing.

Why CBD + CBDA Isolate for pets?

Early studies ⁵ have suggested the combination of CBD and CBDA may have a strong impact on the well-being of our pets, changing the way pet parents think about managing discomfort, stress, itching, cognition, tremors, and many other issues.

CBD works directly with the endocannabinoid system (ECS), one of the body's largest receptor systems. It regulates many vital processes, including sleep, mood, pain, stress and appetite, and is responsible for maintaining balance or homeostasis within the body.

Simply put, whenever the body is out of balance, whether due to irritation, inflammation, discomfort or cognitive issues, the endocannabinoid system’s job is to address the imbalance and bring the body back into a healthy state.

CBD helps the ECS to maintain balance by preventing enzymes from breaking down endocannabinoids (endogenous cannabinoids, produced by the body), which act as chemical messengers within the ECS. Therefore, by enabling endocannabinoids to continue performing their function, CBD indirectly supports the ECS and contributes to a healthy and balanced internal state.

CBDA ⁶, on the other hand, works as an inhibitor. It targets the COX2 enzyme which alerts the body to pain and inflammation, thereby potentially reducing sensations of pain and discomfort.

US research ⁷ indicates that a combination of CBD + CBDA isolate may be the most effective cannabinoid treatment for pets.

    FAQs

Can CBD for dogs be taken with other medications?

Generally, CBD for pets is very safe to use alongside prescription medicines and supplements. The only medicine group that has been reported to cause interactions with CBD are the benzodiazepines (most common drugs from this group to be prescribed by vets are diazepam and alprazolam). Reported side-effects when used together with CBD include drowsiness.

What is the dosage for pets?

Please refer to our dosage chart based on the weight of your pet. Naturecan Pet's proprietary blend CBD oils are formulated to offer a 1mg per 1kg dosage (morning and evening) based on your pet's weight.

    Can the dosage be increased?

CBD is a safe compound and the appropriate dose will vary depending on your pet's requirements. As a result, the dose can be increased to 2mg per kg (morning and evening) if required, being double the dosage chart.

Can topical and ingestible be used together?

Yes. Topical CBD products work transdermally, targeting key areas in the body, while ingested CBD is absorbed through the digestive tract.  Use both in combination for optimum results for joint, mood and skin health.

Can treats and oil be used together?

Yes, they can. CBD dog treats offer an easy way to give your pet CBD while the CBD oils offer a more robust effect (absorption into the bloodstream is quicker). We recommend using both routes: Dog CBD oil morning and night, and CBD dog treats throughout the day. Use the full recommended dose for the Dog CBD oil and full recommended dose for the CBD dog treats which will total 2mg per 1kg body weight, (total should not exceed 4mg per kg per day).

    Is CBD Safe for pets?

Naturecan Pet is the only pet CBD range that is able to deliver pet-safe CBD because it is guaranteed 100% THC, flavonoids and terpene free. All products are third party tested by an external testing laboratory and all results are available on the product page.

Can my pet overdose on CBD?

Overdose on pure CBD has not been reported in pets. Our Certificates of Analysis (CoA) can give you confidence that the product you are buying is pure CBD with no THC or other cannabinoids. It is these compounds that can cause serious harm to cats and dogs. Please beware that many pet products advertised as 'pure CBD' do contain dangerous traces of THC, and it is important for buyers to check CoAs. Naturecan Pet CBD is tested under the most stringent laboratory processes in the world, making our products ultra-safe.

Why Choose Naturecan’s CBD for pets?

At Naturecan Pet, our key focus is formulating the best and safest products for your pet. We understand that if paw-rents are searching for pet CBD products, their pet may be ill or need some support to optimise their health, comfort and overall well being.

With market leading innovative technology our priority for dog CBD products is to refine CBD to be pure and safe, in its natural plant form. We do this by taking our Naturecan Broad-Spectrum CBD distillate used in our human range and refining it into a pure CBD and CBDA isolate using advanced chromatography technology. This proprietary blend allows us to offer the highest quality CBD and the correct strength for your pet.

What's the difference between Naturecan’s human CBD and pet CBD?

At Naturecan, product quality and safety are our number one priorities. While our human CBD contains other broad-spectrum hemp compounds alongside CBD which may contribute to enhanced benefits through the entourage effect, there is insufficient evidence that these additional compounds are safe for pets. That's why we remove all traces of terpenes, flavonoids and other cannabinoids from our pet CBD.

We do this by taking our Naturecan Broad-Spectrum CBD distillate used in our human range and refining it into a pure CBD and CBDA isolate using advanced chromatography technology.

What this further refinement process allows us to do is remove all traces of THC, as well as all flavonoids and terpenes, to deliver a safe and consistent CBD + CBDA isolate, guaranteed safe for pets.

Why we use syringes over droppers

Naturecan is always striving to make CBD safer for pets. Normally pet CBD is delivered in glass droppers, but we don’t feel this is a safe way to drop CBD into a pet’s mouth, so we have moved to a syringe. You can clearly see the drops on the side of the syringe and can administer the oil into food if that is your preferred way to dose.  We don’t offer plastic droppers as when CBD is stored in or near plastic it can break down and lose its strength.
